different image project is a German rock band. The group is based in the west of Germany between Aachen and Mönchengladbach.
The group's music can be categorised as rock with progressive elements. Classic rock elements can be found as well as sacred chorales, hard guitar riffs, driving rhythms and sensitive vocals. The melodies are always catchy and have a high recognition value.
Listeners of the radio station WDR 2 voted the musicians ‘Best Band in the West’ in September 2019.
The band project different image project was honoured by the national jury of the German Pop Foundation for the German Rock and Pop Prize 2019 and 2023 as ‘Best Progressive Band’. In four other categories, the band won awards for ‘Best Arrangement’, ‘Best Pop Song’, ‘Best Music Video’ and ‘Best Rock Singer’.
In 2017, 2020 and 2024 the band released three albums, TOTAL ECLIPSE, FREEDOM and EMBERS OF TIME, as well as the EP IMAGE 1 in 2018.
The new album EMBERS OF TIME was released on 20 September 2024. A first single release with the song WHAT HAVE YOU DONE and the accompanying music video have been released so far.
History
The beginnings in Hanover in the 80s
The roots of different image project lie in the late 80s and early 90s. Four young guys got together at what was then the Army Officers' School in Hanover to make music together. They decided to give themselves the name different image and get started. The band's first line-up: Ulf Bauer on drums, Claus Goose on guitar, Markus Hoffmann on keyboards and Jorge Klapproth on lead vocals. After initial attempts with cover versions of well-known rock songs and a few gigs in Hanover, the four decided to focus on their own songs.
The study time in Munich
Together the boys went to Munich to study and continued the musical path that had started. The line-up was supplemented by bassist Markus Herrmann and guitarist Klaus Eckel. The band was very hardworking and created a number of their own songs and a sophisticated concert program. Many appearances, audio and video recordings as well as some radio appearances followed in the Munich area.
Preliminary end
After years of creating music together, the paths of the musicians broke up at the end of their studies. They all took themselves across whole Germany in existing musical projects or started their own.

The band "Image 1" was one of the new music projects by the singer Jorge Klapproth. Together with the guitarists Klaus Linde and Ulrich Böckels, the keyboardist Markus Schnabel, the drummer Matthias Schneidawind and the background singer Ruth Timter, many new songs were created, which found their way into music video productions and studio recordings. Among other things, the EP IMAGE 1 was created in the Aschaffenburg tunefish studio.
Total Eclipse
After the end of "Image 1" Jorge Klapproth brought the core team from "different image" back together and they recorded the album TOTAL ECLIPSE with songs from their time together in Munich with keyboardist and singer Ruth Klapproth in Erkelenz at Nysterbach studio.
Refoundation as different image project
The musical roots of the group around Ruth and Jorge Klapproth and Claus Goose can be found in different image project. The album TOTAL ECLIPSE was remixed at their home studio, Red Carpet Studio, and released in 2017 under their own label and publishing company, CMC ECLIPSE Publishing. The EP IMAGE 1 followed in 2018.
While working on the album FREEDOM, which was released on April 9, 2020, drummer Mischa Wyboris joined the band as a studio drummer. Bassist Olaf Renner supported the project.
To date, the band has released three albums, TOTAL ECLIPSE (2017) and FREEDOM (2020) and EMBERS OF TIME (2024), as well as the EP IMAGE 1 (2018), with the first album and EP consisting of existing material that was reworked. FREEDOM was a completely new album with new songs and arrangements. It was recorded entirely in the band's own Red Carped Studio.
Guitarist Jannik Geiß supported the work on the current album EMBERS OF TIME. The album was released on September 20, 2024. A first single release with the song WHAT HAVE YOU DONE has been released.
Awards
The listeners of the radio station WDR 2 have the musicians in September 2019 "Best band in the west" chosen.
In the same year the band in Siegen/Germany was chosen by the national jury of the German Pop Foundation for the German Rock and Pop Prize 2019 as "Best Progressive Band".
The band won awards in four other categories for "Best Arrangement", "Best Pop Song", "Best Music Video" and as "Best Rock Singer". This repeated in 2023.
Live Performance
The now extensive song repertoire of different image project belongs on stage. The band is currently working on its current stage program with a partially new lineup.
